Her training and clinical focus include working with survivors of abuse/trauma, individuals dealing with symptoms of mood disorders (including depression), anxiety, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, developmental concerns particularly related to the college student population, diversity and gay, lesbian, and bisexual issues.  Dr. Riss has been trained under Safe Zone and works with adolescents and adults. She has been trained by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis to provide basic level of hypnosis as an aid in psychotherapy.

Dr. Riss is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the Athens Area Psychological Association, the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, and the Trauma Study Group of Athens.
